Aloe Vera: Your New Hair Treatment

Aloe vera is one of the most versatile plants nature has provided us, and it seems like every day we discover a new aloe vera skin and hair treatment. Not like we’ve been using this plant for centuries already, right? A plant with all that moisturizing goodness has to be good for more than just our skin. Here are a few benefits of aloe vera as a hair treatment, and how to use aloe vera to improve the health of your hair and scalp.

Benefits of Aloe Vera for Hair

Aloe vera is jam-packed with vitamins and minerals, which can promote a healthy scalp. Some researchers have also suggested that aloe vera can naturally stimulate oxygen delivery and blood circulation, helping to spread vital nutrition to hair follicles.

Oily Hair

For those of us plagued with oily hair, aloe vera is worth looking into. Aloe is effective in stripping extra sebum oil and residue, yet it’s gentle enough to not damage your hair follicles. It’ll also help your hair get that healthy, shiny look.

How to Apply Natural Aloe Vera for Hair Treatment

An aloe vera hair treatment doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether you prefer to use it as a simple moisturizing boost to your hair and scalp or as your all-in-one hair solution, here are a few ways you can incorporate aloe vera into your hair care routine. No need to break the bank for those fancy hair treatments.

Aloe Hair Treatment

You can simply use natural aloe vera gel, or you can blend it with coconut or olive oil and rub it directly onto your scalp. Let it sit for about an hour, and then wash it out with shampoo. It doesn’t have to be a daily aloe hair treatment, either. Simply apply it two or three times a week, and you’ll begin to notice a healthier scalp and healthier hair in no time.

Aloe Hair Mask

You’ve probably heard of face masks, but you can actually make a hair mask for your hair and scalp, too. Just mix aloe vera with honey or jojoba oil, massage it into the scalp and hair, throw on that ever-attractive shower cap, and leave it on for 15 minutes to an hour. After that, wash it out with shampoo, and you’re good to go!

Aloe Leave-In Conditioner

You can also make your own leave-in conditioner with aloe vera in a spray bottle. Mix two tablespoons of natural aloe vera gel with an essential oil such as lavender, and then add water. Shake until the mixture combines, and spray in your hair for softer hair. Remember, when working with essential oils, a little goes a long way, so don’t overdo it.

If this is too much work, don’t worry. Some shampoos and conditioners are starting to include aloe vera in their ingredients to naturally moisturize and strengthen hair, or you can add some to your favorite brand. Looking for natural aloe vera? Check out our aloe vera selection here.
